The Wood County Regional Airport, also home to the University’s aviation school, held its fourth Air Fair on Sept. 16. The fair is an exhibition of planes and other air vehicles both antique and modern intended to build awareness of the airport in the community. The event, which has been held since 2013, featured 20 air vehicles on display as well as plane, helicopter and balloon rides, flight simulator lessons and a presentation of refurbished WWII-era ground vehicles.
The fair was organized by the Friends of Wood County Regional Airport, a group that increases visibility for the airport, with cooperation from the University’s aviation program and the Eagle Air Flying Club, a non-profit group of aviation enthusiasts based in Wood County. All groups supplied planes for the event, and outside pilots were also contacted to bring their planes in for the day.
