The business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi’s annual Teeter-Totter-Thon holds more significance to the brothers this year than in the past.
Kristin Kralik, Delta Sigma Pi’s vice president of community service, said in the past the event raised money for diabetes; however, this year the money raised will be donated to the American Cancer Society, specifically colon cancer research.
“One of our brothers lost his father this past December to [colon cancer], so it’s in memory of him,” Kralik said.
From 7 a.m. today until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Delta Sigma Pi will be hosting the Teeter-Totter-Thon in the Union Oval.
Kralik said the fraternity is hoping to raise around $1,500 for colon cancer research.
“The Teeter-Totter event is something we’ve been doing for a really long time,” said Jessica Noble, senior vice president. “Brothers in the fraternity have different shifts where it’s basically nonstop teeter-tottering for 36 hours.”
In addition to teeter-tottering, the brothers of Delta Sigma Pi will also be holding a bake sale and a raffle, said Sarah Arndt, vice president of pledge education. She said local places around Bowling Green will be donating items to be auctioned off.
Arndt said any amount of a donation helps.
“It’s really personal to us, and a good way for us to give back and also honor parents that have passed away,” Noble said.
