Bowling Green and Buffalo Battle to Draw

The Bowling Green State Falcons and the Buffalo Bulls battled on the pitch at Cochrane Stadium on Sunday. The Falcons have won the conference for the last four seasons, but Buffalo currently leads the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in the 2022 campaign.

The theme throughout the course of Sunday’s match was a lot of back and forth as experienced defenders kept both teams at bay in terms of shots on goal. The Falcons did find the net on one occasion but it was called no goal after the assistant referee waved the flag for an offside call.

BG’s Lili Berg and UB’s Emily Kelly collected four saves for their respective teams as the day ended in a draw.

After the game, BGSU Head Coach Jimmy Walker talked about his feelings on the Falcons performance.

“I’m really pleased with the performance today. We challenged the players to have the grit, the effort, the attitude and the commitment we needed. They responded really well. They competed, fought for every ball and fought for each other. As a coach, I couldn’t ask for more from the players today,” Walker said.

Next up for Bowling Green are the Miami-Ohio RedHawks. Both teams are battling to stay in the picture for the conference tournament in just a few weeks time. The match will take place on Thursday, Oct. 20th at 7 P.M. EST at Cochrane Stadium. Coverage of the match can be found on the WBGU-TV YouTube page.
