BGSU Women’s Basketball defeated the Kent State Golden Flashes 75-69 yesterday at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center. The win was BG’s 11th straight and improved their overall record to 22-2.

The Falcons led for nearly the entire game, but the fourth-place Flashes made things interesting down the stretch. In the fourth quarter, Kent cut the BG lead to two points at a couple different moments, but BG found a way to get timely stops defensively, and make some free throws late to seal the deal.

Elissa Brett continued to light it up from downtown. She finished as the leading scorer for the orange and brown with 20 points while also going a perfect 5 for 5 from downtown.

Allison Day and Nyla Hampton added a pair of respective double-digit scoring performances, with Day racking up 17 points and Hampton 16. Towards the end of the game, Hampton knocked down four clutch free throws in the final 90 seconds of regulation to help seal the deal.

Lexi Fleming was Ms. Do-Everything, ending the day with seven points, six steals, five rebounds and three assists, with her six steals being a career-high.

For the Golden Flashes, Lindsey Thall ended the day as the leading scorer with 15, while Corynne Hauser and Casey Santoro added 13 and 11 respectively.

Even when the wins continue to roll along, it is important to know how to succeed in tough situations.

“This was a really tough, competitive game,” head coach Robyn Fralick said. “Kent State’s a really good team; It was a very back-and-forth game, and I thought we did a great job of getting timely stops and timely scores.”

With seemingly nothing standing in their way, the Falcons return home for a Wednesday night battle with the Northern Illinois Huskies. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
