  • They Both Die at the End – General Review
Summer break is the perfect opportunity to get back into reading. Adam Silvera’s (2017) novel, They Both Die at the End, can serve as a stepping stone into the realm of reading. The pace is fast, action-packed, and develops loveable characters. Also, Silvera switches point of view each chapter where narration mainly focuses on the protagonists, […]
  • My Favorite Book – Freshwater
If there’s one book that I believe everyone should read once in their life, it’s my favorite book – Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. From my course, Queer Literature under Dr. Bill Albertini, I discovered Emezi’s Freshwater (2018). Once more, my course, Creative Writing Thesis Workshop under Professor Amorak Huey, was instructed to present our favorite […]

Spring break is typically a time for college students to take a well-deserved break from classes and soak up the sun, but with BGSU’s spring break happening at the beginning of March, there aren’t many local places that will be warm enough to enjoy a day outside. Fear not though, because here are the five US vacation destinations that will be warmest during our spring break this year according to travel website Kayak.

Tampa, FL — With an average March temperature of 67 degrees and 12 hours of daylight per day, the city of Tampa has plenty to offer spring breakers. Tampa beaches like Ben T Davis Beach and Davis Island Beach are highly reviewed for swimmingly safe daytime fun, and at night, there are miles of boardwalk with parks, stores and other attractions to explore.

Island of Hawai’i — Students looking for warm beaches and stunning nature should consider a trip to Hawaii, which boasts an average March temperature of 67 degrees and 12 hours of daylight per day. Kua Bay and Kukio Beach are great beach day options for tourists, and the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park has lots of hiking and exploring to offer those who are looking for a bit more excitement and natural sightseeing.

St. Augustine, FL — Students looking to take in historic scenery will love a trip to St. Augustine, and not just because of its average March temperature of 63 degrees and 12 hours of daylight per day. St. Augustine Beach and Anastasia Beach are sure to satisfy a tourist’s beach cravings, and the Celtic Music and Heritage festival happening March 9 and 10 will hold the world’s oldest St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Big Bend National Park, TX — Tourists who visit what Kayak calls Texas’ ‘gift to the nation’ will get to explore the Chisos Mountain Range and Chihuahuan Desert with average temperatures of 60 degrees and 12 hours of daylight per day. March is the perfect time to visit the lush greenery at Big Bend destinations like Cattail Falls and Pine Canyon Trail because it’s the season of bluebonnet bloom.

Pensacola Beach, FL — Located on sunny Santa Rosa island, Pensacola Beach offers students 60 degree average March temperatures and 12 hours of daylight per day. Excursion programs like biking, boating and diving are available for tourists to explore, and hiking experiences like those on Echo Trail allow tourists to see the natural scenery of the island.
