Bowling Green men’s basketball head coach Todd Simon continues to add through the transfer portal, with former Central Michigan junior guard Derrick Butler announcing he is making the intraconference move to the Falcons.
Butler is the sixth player to transfer to BGSU this offseason, joining Braelon Green, Youssef Khayat, Javontae Campbell, Marcus Johnson and Wilguens Jr. Excacte.
Next season will mark Butler’s fourth different college in as many years, having previously played at Eastern Florida State College and Chipola Junior College before CMU.
The Charlotte, North Carolina, native started 22 of 26 games played last season with the Chippewas, averaging 28.4 minutes, 10.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game.
Butler continues the trend of Simon adding good shooters this offseason after BG shot just 29.6% on three-pointers last year.
In his only season with Central Michigan, Butler shot 40% from the field, 39.8% from beyond the arc and 74% on free throws.
