As everyone is aware, fall is on the come up and summer is starting to fade. However, summer has not come to an end yet and we will not be discussing pumpkin spice lattes for at least another week or so. Instead, while summer is still not a past term, let’s discuss a few of the best and most important #trending items of summer 2022. Starting with a simple trend, matcha. Why is matcha so popular? Personally, I couldn’t tell you since I have not hopped on the matcha train and have no plans on doing so. Yet, it has taken over most coffee shops as one of the most commonly ordered drinks, especially in the summertime. If you’re unaware of what this drink is, let me explain. Matcha is finely ground green tea leaves and is recognized for its grainy and bright green color. Usually flavored with nut milk and vanilla or chai syrups. It’s light, fresh and great for an afternoon drink to sip at the beach. Moving forward, a fashion trend that can be worn at any time of the year but is most popular in the summer and beginning of the school year is, athleisure. Athleisure is athletic or workout clothes that are styled in a way that is cute and acceptable for most daily activities. For example, wearing biker shorts and a big t-shirt, and then adding fashionable sneakers, gold jewelry, and a stylish handbag. Let’s continue with an essential convenience item that I never knew how trending it was until I got back to campus. This item is a phone strap. Phone straps can generally be recognized as beads or colorful strings that attach to your phone case and are meant to be carried around your wrist. Very comparable to a wristlet but this is just for your phone. Additionally, if colors can be trendy, this summer would, without a doubt, be in its neon colors era. Neon nails, neon jewelry, neon shoes, and neon anything. If it was the color of a highlighter, it was trending. Although I could go on, one last #trending item that will be named for this week is cowboy caviar. Cowboy caviar is a food trend that was taking over the social media world this summer. If you’re unaware, this food trend is a mix of beans, corn, tomatoes, jalapeños, bell peppers, and some sort of citrus dressing. It’s usually eaten as a dip with tortilla chips but also can be eaten on a salad or just by the spoonful. This was the perfect summer food trend because it was fresh, healthy, and so versatile for any event. People were going crazy for cowboy caviar this summer and I’m not afraid to admit I was definitely one of them. This recipe is so customizable and easy to quickly put together. That’s all for #trending this week, come back next Monday for more!
