  • They Both Die at the End – General Review
Summer break is the perfect opportunity to get back into reading. Adam Silvera’s (2017) novel, They Both Die at the End, can serve as a stepping stone into the realm of reading. The pace is fast, action-packed, and develops loveable characters. Also, Silvera switches point of view each chapter where narration mainly focuses on the protagonists, […]
  • My Favorite Book – Freshwater
If there’s one book that I believe everyone should read once in their life, it’s my favorite book – Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. From my course, Queer Literature under Dr. Bill Albertini, I discovered Emezi’s Freshwater (2018). Once more, my course, Creative Writing Thesis Workshop under Professor Amorak Huey, was instructed to present our favorite […]

Meijer, Coke, hike!

Tired of the same old frustrating tailgating experience? Are you tired of trying to set up that “easy-to-use” collapsible grill and stacking all those messy pieces of charcoal in a pyramid, not to mention all the problems of trying to keep those hamburger patties and hot dogs cold while you set up. Well, you can finally stop worrying about these things, relax and have some fun before home football games. The University, in conjunction with Meijer and Gladieux Catering, is proud to bring to you a solution for all your tailgating woes.

You will no longer have to slave over that grill while you watch your friends have fun, because we here at the University are committed to bringing you 360 degrees of fun. At the Meijer Tailgate Park, you can pick up all your tailgating needs for a low cost. Instead of waking up early to go to the store, we bring the store to you. Forget about the hassles of trying to decide which store has lower prices, and we will even cook the food for you. Don’t forget to get a crisp, clean, refreshing Coca-Cola product to go along with that burger or dog.

And if you’re tired of that same old greasy hamburger or water-logged hot dog, we’ve got some exciting news for you. Along with other great deals that can found inside Meijer Tailgate Park, you can now purchase a gourmet sandwich from Jimmy John’s.

The food isn’t the only thing you will freak out over while at Meijer Tailgate Park: We have established, for your convenience, not one, but two, places where you can enjoy a frosty, cold beer. If you are 21 or older, you will no longer have to decide what beer to bring, because we brought it for you. You can purchase beer from one of the providers we have chosen for you, all while feeling safe knowing the menacing underagers won’t try to get in your way. So if you want to drink B!G, head over to the beer tents.

But the 360 degrees of fun doesn’t stop when the game starts. After you leave Meijer Tailgate Park, you will find comfort in knowing our commitment to higher standards and lower prices continue inside The Doyt. If you are still hungry, you can enjoy food from Gladieux Catering. Why waste money from your meal plan at football games when you can enjoy food of a higher quality that we don’t provide you with on a daily basis from University dining?

We here at the University, along with our sponsors Meijer, Coca-Cola, Jimmy John’s and Gladieux Catering, are committed to providing our students with excellence. Like the GM of Falcon Sports Properties, Todd Yunker, said, “It’s really a control issue. [Tailgating] used to be a free-for-all.”

And he is right, now we here at the University are able to control what you bring into Meijer Tailgate Park in order to ensure that you, the student, won’t bring anything that doesn’t meet our high standards of quality. That’s why we decided it was best for you if we decided what you would eat and drink, and who would provide this service to you. Deciding that we can make quality decisions that best reflect the wishes of the students is our best quality, and that’s what is making all the difference.
