  • They Both Die at the End – General Review
Summer break is the perfect opportunity to get back into reading. Adam Silvera’s (2017) novel, They Both Die at the End, can serve as a stepping stone into the realm of reading. The pace is fast, action-packed, and develops loveable characters. Also, Silvera switches point of view each chapter where narration mainly focuses on the protagonists, […]
  • My Favorite Book – Freshwater
If there’s one book that I believe everyone should read once in their life, it’s my favorite book – Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. From my course, Queer Literature under Dr. Bill Albertini, I discovered Emezi’s Freshwater (2018). Once more, my course, Creative Writing Thesis Workshop under Professor Amorak Huey, was instructed to present our favorite […]

Track faces off with MAC foes

After a successful performance at the Hillsdale Relays, the BG women’s track team will be back in Michigan today to compete in the Central Collegiate Championships. Eastern Michigan will be hosting the meet.

The Falcons will be running against fellow Mid-American Conference teams Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, and some Central Michigan runners. Teams such as Michigan and Detroit Mercy will also be competing.

As one of the last meets before the MAC Championships on May 14, the Central Collegiate meet will be one of the last opportunities for the squad to work improving times and consistency. Consistency was one of head coach Scott Sehmann’s goals for the team this week in practice.

“[This week is] one of the last chances to built on consistency. If you’re consistent, you’re confident. I’m going to challenge [the team] to improve again this week,” Sehmann said.

This weekend’s meet will be a one-day event, as opposed to the usual two to three day meet. Sehmann believes the one-day format will benefit his team.

“[The format] gives us a chance to get in six throws, build more on the confidence level, and we won’t miss anymore class,” Sehmann said.

Facing some MAC competition will also benefit the team, by giving them a taste of what they will see in two weeks at the conference meet. While winning is important, the Falcons see this meet also as another chance to grow.

“This should be a good meet for us to continue to grow. We’ll get our last tune ups before the championship meet,” Sehmann said. Between tuning up their performances and working on consistency, the team will have a full plate at today’s Central Collegiate Championship meet.
