Bowling Green Women’s Basketball defeated Northern Illinois 66-50 in Dekalb, Illinois yesterday.

Elissa Brett earned a double-double, leading the Falcons in points with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Jocelyn Tate was the only other person on each team to get over ten points, as she scored 15 points with six rebounds and led the team with four assists. Lexi Fleming also put up a solid performance in 32 minutes, scoring eight points and five rebounds.

Both sides of the ball shined for the Falcons, with the defense holding all of the Huskies under ten points.

The offense never trailed in the game, which included a 15-0 run in the first for the Falcons, making the game 18-3. After that 15-0 run early, the Falcons’ lead never got under ten points for the remainder of the contest.

This year’s Falcons have improved exponentially from last year, surpassing last year’s win total in 14 fewer games and having already doubled the road win total from last season.

Head coach Robyn Fralick was ecstatic with her team’s performance in these past two games,

“I’m proud of our two wins in a tough road stretch this week,” said Fralick. “I thought we did an excellent job defensively today, and we also shared the ball well. Credit Elissa Brett again today; she had some really big and really timely baskets for us. But as a team, I loved our toughness and I loved our grit.”

BGSU has won seven straight, and they take on Western Michigan next on Feb. 1, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
