The Bowling Green gymnastics team took on the Illinois State Cardinals and the Cenetary College Ladies at the Illinois State Tri-Meet in CEFCU Arena Friday night.

The Falcons came close to a win, finishing in second place with an overall score of 192.650; 2.550 points behind the lead held by the Cardinals. The Orange and Brown finished ahead of the College Ladies by 9.45 points.

The two leading teams showcased strong vault routines, only within points of each other.

While the Cardinals ended up on top, the Falcons kept a solid performance.

A strong performance from senior Taylor Jensen on the bars led the Falcons with a score of 9.800.  Jensen concluded her night with a 38.950 in the all-around, placing third in the meet.

Sophomore Lexi Bournhorn and Freshman Isabella Rivelli followed Jensen’s lead on the bars, trailing her score by hundredths of a point.

Senior Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso showed off her hard work by hitting a personal record of 9.775 on the bars.

Lauren Bannister also showcased her skills on the floor with a 9.675. However, Kathyrn Weilbacher had a shaky landing that took her out of the rotation for the rest of the night.

This minor set-back didn’t stop Bowling Green from finishing the night with their best efforts.

Up next, the Falcons take on the Kent State Golden Flashes at the Stroh Center on Saturday, Feb. 11.
