Softball season is right around the corner and the 2023 campaign opens up a world of opportunity for the BGSU Falcons.

The Orange and Brown are coming off one of their best seasons in school history, finishing the 2022 campaign with a 34-21 overall record. Last season also included an entry into the MAC tournament with a second place finish, losing the MAC Championship game to the Miami RedHawks.

There will be new faces not only on the field but also along the coaching staff as well. Bowling Green has promoted assistant coach Candace Fenton-Bockbrader to head coach ahead of the upcoming season.

Fenton-Bockbrader has been a part of the Bowling Green softball team for two years before her promotion to head coach. Being a part of two very successful Falcon teams, Fenton-Bockbrader looks to lead the Falcons to another successful season in 2023.

During Fenton-Bockbrader’s time at Bowling Green, the Falcons have gone 61- 48 overall.

The new leader has also brought along a list of new coaches to the coaching staff. Erinn Gankosky and Jacob Jefferies were added to the Bowling Green coaching staff. Gankosky and Jeffries both take on the role of assistant coach.

The softball season began on Feb. 10, as the Falcons travelled to Rosemont, Illinois for the DePaul Dome tournament. Through five games, the team is 2-3 with wins over Detroit Mercy and Valparaiso.
