BGSU Gymnastics suffer tight loss to Golden Flashes on senior day

BGSU Gymnastics fell in a nail-biting finish to the Kent State Golden Flashes yesterday at the Stroh Center. The Falcons, hosting their senior night, ultimately took a narrow loss, 195.625-195.025.

The Orange and Brown fought for their first win against Kent State since 2015. Although the Golden Flashes have won nine-straight meetings over BGSU, the Falcons sought to end this pattern.

BGSU started off with 48.850 points at the vault. However, a 0.075-point difference gave the Golden Flashes the lead with 48.925 points.

Lexi Bornhorn and Megan Bingham earned their season highs on bars in order to pace the BGSU effort. Sadly, the Falcons fell again by less than a full point.

Taylor Jensen set her all-time high on the beams, hoping she could pull her team through to a win. The Falcons had high hopes as they kept Kent State at bay in this area, managing to scrape a 0.35-point lead in this area of the meet.

As the floor score was set in stone, the Falcons were unable to pull through again. A 0.775 deficit, the largest difference yet, put Kent State at the top once again, ending the meeting.

It was not a meet of all losses, however. Jensen won the all-around individual portion with 39.250 points.

You can see the Falcons in action again on Sunday, Feb. 19, in West Virginia. The meet is planned to start at 1 p.m.
