Bowling Green State University partnered with Girl Scouts of Western Ohio on Saturday, Feb. 11 to celebrate “World Thinking Day”. Dozens of local Girl Scouts met with BGSU’s international students to learn about cultures around the world in the BTSU.

Girl Scouts received passports that were stamped by each booth they visited, set up by the international students.

“With students from more than nine countries pursuing an education at BGSU, Girl Scouts will be able to learn about multiple cultures in one place,” said Dr. Marcia Salazar-Valentine, director of International Programs and Partnerships.

Each February, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts convenes to celebrate “World Thinking Day” with a new theme. It has been a tradition for the group since 1926 and is observed across 150 countries, according to the BGSU press release.

Alissa Wauford, community development manager for Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, said these opportunities are important for the Girl Scouts to make friendships and advocate for others.
