The results are in, and the BGSU women’s golf team placed 11th out of 18 teams at Western Michigan’s Rio Verde Invitational. The event was held at a par-72, 6000+-yard course at the Rio Verde Country Club in Arizona.

The final standings also saw BGSU finish fourth best among fellow Mid-American Conference teams. Akron (+44) finished fourth overall, Central Michigan (+47) finished sixth and Ball State (+54) finished ninth

Xavier University ended the event in first place at +11, finishing 17 strokes ahead of any other team.

For the Falcons, senior Kayla Davis led the way and finished 12th individually after shooting +8. She shot 224 over the three days of the event.

Despite the low placing, head coach Erin Fahey was pleased throughout the course of the event.

“I am really proud of the way the team improved each round throughout the tournament,” Fahey said. “To move up four spots on the leaderboard during the final round is a big deal and a testament to our game plan and focus going into today. We needed to get off to a faster start during the first round to really have a good chance at our goal of a top – finish. We are looking forward to cleaning up a few things before hitting the road again in a few days for our next event.”

Bowling Green will travel to McAllen, Texas to participate in the UTRGV Women’s Invitational on March 6.
