The Bowling Green softball team lost 9-1 to the Auburn Tigers on Friday.

The Bowling Green State University Softball team went down to Auburn, Ala. for their final tournament of the season.

Coach Candace Fenton-Bockbrader and the Falcons played against #19 Auburn University in their first game of the Jane B. Moore Memorial tournament.

The Falcons fell behind early in the contest as a throwing error allowed a run to cross the plate and a solo home run would put the Tigers up 2-0.

BG junior Sophie Weber doubled with runners in scoring position in the third inning, scoring OF Makailha Dees.

Dees’ run was the Falcon’s only run of the contest.

Weber and Dees both went 3-3 at the plate against the nationally-ranked Auburn Tigers.

Some costly errors in the third inning allowed the Tigers to score three unearned runs putting them ahead 5-1.

In the fourth inning, four more unearned runs crossed the plate for Auburn, going up 9-1.

This left the Falcons down to their final three outs in the fifth inning.

This was not the cleanest game for the Falcons as the defense tallied five total errors to the stat line, leaving seven of nine runs scored unearned for the Tigers.

The Falcons continue the Jane B. Moore tournament throughout the weekend.
