The Bowling Green softball team won 9-8 against the Toledo Rockets on Sunday.

This win concluded a three-game series, with Toledo taking the first two games.

The game was played inside the Total Sports Dome in Rossford due to ill weather.

BG sophomore Ellie Price started the game for the Falcons.

However, after two outs, she left the game with a lower back injury.

Head Coach Candace Fenton-Bockbrader went to Sydney Stepp and Hannah Davies for the middle part of the game.

Despite the tough loss of their starter, the Falcons persevered and scored five runs for a four-run lead in the bottom of the second inning.

However, the Rockets fought back and scored three runs of their own.

The Falcons were not content with a one-run lead, extending their lead to 7-4 in the third.

At the top of the fourth inning, Sophie Weber tacked on another run to Bowling Green’s dominant lead.

Toledo’s Riley Mohr hit a three-run over the left field wall, cutting BGSU’s lead 8-7.

The Falcons scored their last run in the top of the fifth, courtesy of utility Katie Hutter.

In the bottom of the fifth, Coach Fenton put in sophomore Scarlet Anderson to finish out the night.

Anderson gave up one run in the bottom of the seventh, allowing the Rockets to put the game-tying and game-winning run on base.

Anderson struck out the final batter of the game, halting the rally of the Rockets/

Hannah Davies snatched her first win of the season in the circle.

This also marked Coach Fenton’s first Mid-American Conference win as a head coach.

The Falcons will finally play at home next weekend for a three-game series against Ohio University.

They are scheduled for a game on March 24 and a doubleheader on March 25.
