The Bowling Green softball team lost 8-1 to the Ohio University Bobcats on Friday.

The Bobcats came into Bowling Green set to start the weekend series at Meserve Field and wasted no time getting things started.

In the top of the first, the Bobcats loaded up the bases with just one out.

However, the Falcons’ defense came up big with two big outs to leave the bases loaded to end the top half of the inning.

In the second inning, the Bobcats broke through for four runs on six hits.

The Falcons got on the board in the bottom half of the fourth inning, as junior Sophie Weber scored her first home run of the season.

In the top of the fifth, Ohio added to their lead scoring another four runs.

After a few one-two-three innings by the Falcons and Bobcats, freshman Delaney Davis singled up the middle making it a multi-hit day for her.

She then stole second.

Weber also added to her day with a single to left putting her and Davis at the corners.

However, a popup to the right side caused an inning-ending double play.

The Bobcats added one more to their hit column in the seventh inning totaling 17 hits on the day.

In the bottom half of the seventh, the Falcons went one-two-three to end the game by a score of 8-1.

Cats sophomore Skipp Miller was the winning pitcher for the Bobcats, putting her at 5-7 on the year.

BG sophomore Scarlet Anderson was cited for the loss, moving her to 5-4 on the year.

Bowling Green falls to 8-16 overall on the year and 1-3 in MAC play.

The Falcons and Bobcats are scheduled to conclude their series on Sunday, March 26 with a doubleheader at Meserve Field.

First pitch will be at 12:00 P.M.
