BGSU Softball swept by Bobcats in doubleheader

The Bowling Green softball team lost both games in a Sunday doubleheader against the Ohio University Bobcats.

The first game resulted in a 13-4 score, while the second game was 6-1.

Despite the sweep, there were three home debuts from the Falcons.

Freshmen Ashley Chevalier, Mackenna Fry, and Mackenzie Krafcik all got to participate in the action for the first time.

In the first game, there was a early lead for Bowling Green, as junior Peyton Dolejs to make the first run.

The Bobcats gained a streak of runs in the midst of the Falcons’ lead, making it a 7-2 game.

In the fifth, Ohio added three more runs to further extend their run advantage.

Falcon catcher Reagan Williamson scored a homer to try to keep Bowling Green alive, but the Bobcats’ offense was not giving up.

In the end, Ohio mercy-ruled Bowling Green in five innings with a final score of 13-4.

For game two, senior Hannah Davies caused four strikeouts in the first two innings, with no hits from the Falcons in three-plus innings.

There was an intense showdown with Ally Bezjak of the Falcons and Skipp Miller of the Bobcats, with a nine-pitch-at-bat that was stopped by Miller with her grounder finishing the inning.

Davies allowed three runs and eight hits, but surrendered one run and three hits in the first six frames.

The Falcons host the Western Michigan Broncos in a single game on March 28 at Western Michigan, with a double-header following on March 29.
