The Bowling Green women’s golf team finished fifth in the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational at Stone Ridge in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Toledo won the ten-team, 36-hole tournament at their rivals’ home course, shooting 28 over par.

They were 11 strokes better than Loyola Chicago, who came in second.

For the Falcons, their best finisher was Kayla Davis, who finished in third after shooting 4 over in the tournament.

Davis came in third for the par-4 competition, shooting two over par.

She also had the second-most birdies with six.

The other top twenty Falcon was freshman Averi Mickelson, finishing in 20th and shooting +20.

Mickelson tied for the fourth most birdies in the 36 holes with five -1 holes.

The next two BG golfers tied for 28th place: freshman Olivia Steen and sophomore Mallory Swartz, both shooting 14 over par.

Rounding out the Falcons’ five was senior Savannah Wyrick, who ended her 36-hole tournament in 47th place and shot 19 over.

The other notable Falcon in the tournament was Amanda Maletich, who golfed as an individual in the tournament, shooting +21, and ended in 52nd place.

However, on day two and hole eight, she shot a hole-in-one, the only ace of the tournament.

Head Coach Erin Fahey was proud of her team at home and is looking forward to the championship in the coming weeks.

“We know what we need to focus on to best prepare for the next week and a half leading up to the MAC Championship,” she said. “I’m looking forward to getting back to work with this team and competing with them in a few weeks! “

The Falcons will be golfing once again on April 21–23 for the MAC Championship in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
