The Bowling Green softball team was swept in a Saturday doubleheader against the University of Akron Zips at Lee R. Jackson Field.

The Falcons fell 10-2 in game one and 7-1 in game two.

The Zips took an early lead in both games, and Bowling Green could not bounce back to grab a victory.

Game One

The Zips secured their early lead with speedy offense.

An early single and back-to-back hits in the first inning gave Akron the 4-0 lead.

In the second and third innings, the Zips tacked on two more runs, extending to a six-run advantage.

In the fourth inning, the Falcons finally got their scoring going.

Freshman Marti Henkel and junior Reagan Williamson were able to touch home plate, but Akron answered quickly with four runs of their own.

After a scoreless fifth frame for the Falcons, the final score was 10-2 for a Zips victory.

Game Two

The Zips secured their early lead once again with four runs in the bottom of the first.

A lone Akron run was tacked on in the third, and another two runs in the fifth furthered their lead 7-0.

It was not until the seventh inning when the Falcons added points to the board with a BG junior Maycee Goldbolt homerun.

Another mercy-ruled game came for the Bowling Green, and the Zips came out victorious.

The Falcons and Zips will meet again Sunday at Lee R. Jackson Field to conclude their series.
