BGSU football has reportedly hired former Tennessee State defensive coordinator Brandon Fisher for the same role, Michael Silver of The Athletic reported on Tuesday.
Fisher, who is the son of former NFL head coach Jeff Fisher, spent the past four seasons as new Bowling Green head coach Eddie George’s DC in Nashville.
In 2024, Fisher’s defense ranked top 50 in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) in points per game and 36th overall in yards per game.
Prior to Tennessee State, Fisher was a defensive analyst at Auburn University for the 2020 season, serving as the defensive coordinator for the 2021 Citrus Bowl, where the Tigers fell to Northwestern, 35-19.
Fisher has been in coaching since 2010, getting his start as an offensive assistant for the Tennessee Titans.
On Wednesday, The Tennessean announced that former Tennessee Tech head coach Dewayne Alexander will be joining Eddie George’s staff in Bowling Green.
Alexander, who compiled a 20-43 record at the helm of the Golden Eagles from 2018 to 2023, will serve as assistant head coach and tight ends coach with BG.
The two became friends while coaching against each other, and Alexander was set to join George’s staff at Tennessee State right before Bowling Green came knocking.
“Eddie George is a special person and I have tremendous respect for him,” Alexander told The Tennessean. “He 100% is in the coaching profession to make a difference in young men. He and I are aligned in that regard.”
