BGSU hockey has nabbed their first transfer of the 2025 season, incoming junior Tyler Hotson from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
Playing his last two years at RPI, the 5’10 left-handed forward scored 20+ points in both. He netted 13 goals in 2023-24, seven in 2024-25, and scored nine and 16 assists respectivly. Hotson does so in a below-average number of shots for BG and would have ranked ninth on BG if he had been a Falcon during the season.
The Stratford, Ontario native does have some penalty trouble, with almost 50 penalty minutes this past season, 32 in his first season. 50 penalty minutes would have led the Falcons this season, the worst penalty offender in the CCHA.
Coming into the 2025-26 season, Hotson (23) will be the leading 2024-25 point scorer ahead of forwards Brody Waters (22 in 38 more shots) and Ben Doran (22 in 21 more shots), although now playing the CCHA brand of hockey over ECAC. He is the first non-freshman addition for Bowling Green and their first overall meaningful transfer in or out of the portal.
