Voter turn out nearly 30 percent lower than past year

This election year, roughly 26 percent of the county showed up to the polls.

Wood County has 96,278 registered voters, but between 97 precincts, only 25,938 cast a vote. There are roughly 120,000 people in the county, according to the 2010 census.

Last year, for the presidential election, more than 60,000 people voted out of roughly 108,000 registered voters or 59.6 percent, according to the Wood County Board of Election archives.
