“I solemnly swear I’m up to no good,” author JK Rowling once wrote during her years with the young wizard Harry Potter and his friends. Once Rowling finished the story of Potter and his friends, she moved on to do other projects.
But now, Rowling is bringing Potter back to the big screen, but not in the way most fans think.
Writing the screenplay herself for the first time, Rowling is bringing Magizoologist and author, Newt Scamander to life. Many Potter fans know Scamander as the author of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” a textbook needed in the Potterverse for the class Care of Magical Creatures.
The book covers the various magical creatures of the Potterverse, including more popular creatures, like the hippogriff, Hungarian Horntail and the basilisk. The book also discusses the care of these creatures and many more found in the fantasy world.
According to Rowling, the film is going to be a standalone film. This means that it is in no way related to Harry Potter, even though they both take place in the same magical world.
The film takes place 70 years before Harry Potter’s story starts and it is set in New York instead of in England. Not much is known about the plot of the film yet.
