The men’s basketball team will be in search for a new head coach as head coach Louis Orr’s contract will not be renewed by the University.
The Falcons lost in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament 54-51 to Northern Illinois University Monday night to finish the season with a 12-20 record.
In seven seasons as the head coach Orr has posted a record of 101-121, which includes a 54-60 mark in MAC play.
When he first arrived at BG in the 2007-2008 season Orr led the Falcons to a 13-17 record. In his next season he led them to a record of 19-14, in that year the Falcons won the MAC East Division and earned the top seed for the MAC Tournament. For that improvement Orr was given the MAC Coach of the Year award.
In Orr’s final three seasons as the Falcons head coach they never posted a record higher.500 as they were 16-16, 13-19 and 12-20 in those years.
A national search for Orr’s replacement will begin immediately.
“We want to thank Coach Orr for his dedication to BGSU and his leadership in developing men of character in the Falcon basketball program,” Kingston according to a press release sent out by the Athletic Department. “I want to personally thank Coach Orr for his professionalism and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”
