The BG women’s basketball team overcame a first-half deficit to defeat Ball State University 72-61 Wednesday night.
In the first half, the Falcons shot just 28.6 percent from the field, compared to the Cardinal’s first-half percentage of 42.9. The Falcons did go 12-of-16 from the free-throw line in the first half, however. The Falcons went into halftime trailing 28-31.
The Falcons came in the second half shooting better, improving to 52.2 percent for the half. BG also went 5-of-8 from the three and made 15-of-17 free throws to go 88.2 percent.
Sophomore Miriam Justinger scored the first seven points for the Falcons, a route to a career-high 18 points on the night. Senior Alexis Rogers scored 15 for BG, and senior Jillian Halfhill added 13 points.
With Wednesday’s win, the Falcons improve to 4-0 in the Mid-American Conference and 14-2 overall.
