Music tour begins in the Stroh

Back from headlining around the United Kingdom, Kip Moore looks to make the University’s very own Stroh Center the start of his “Plead The Fifth” tour.

Moore is coming this Thursday, Oct. 19, to the Stroh Center. Tickets are still available through the Stroh Center box office and Ticketmaster.com by searching Kip Moore.

Reserved seating is $20 per ticket while the standing-only general admission is $30. The concert starts at 7 p.m.

A VIP option is available through Moore’s website (bought through Ticketmaster) via the Tours link at the top of the page. The $129 option includes an early access general admission ticket, along with a meet and greet, an exclusive pre-show acoustic concert and other perks.

Moore brings with him what his website describes as a “warm embrace of (Kip’s) rugged rock roots,” and “innate poetic prowess,” in the form of his third studio album, “Slowheart,” containing his tour’s titular track.

Released just over a month ago on Sept. 8, “Slowheart” debuted at number three on Billboard’s Top Country albums and number 10 on the Billboard Top 200. The album has been well-received by fans and critics, though critics struggle on deciding which side of the rock/country line the album lies. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Moore described the mood as “somewhere between Americana, rock and the evocative storytelling of country.”

Today, the album currently sits at number 35 in the Billboard Top Country Albums, having sold 33,400 physical copies and another 29,000 equivalent album units. Quotes from his website indicate he is not one to worry much about the numbers “Slowheart” produces.

“This album is growing into where I am now,” Moore said about the album, which contains raw lyrical emotions and rings with sonic warmth. “I’m never going to be one of those artists that’s trying to stay relevant. I’m going to grow as my music grows. I’m going to grow as a human being.”

Following Moore to town is singer Jordan Davis and the bands Drake White and The Big Fire.
