The University will be hosting various Halloween-themed events at the Student Recreation Center starting Tuesday, Oct. 24, through Tuesday, Oct. 31. The first of these events is the Monster Mash Halloween Bash Thursday, Oct. 26. This event is from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. and takes place at the recreation center. It is hosted by the Wellness Connection and Greek Multicultural Council.
“They’re showing ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ and then we have Zombie Zumba going on at 10:30. The movie will start at 11,” Wellness Connection graduate assistant Olivia Krupp said. The movie showing will take place on the Mid-American Conference basketball court.
There will also be pizza, a photo booth, face painting and a disc jockey. The event is free and open to students and members of the community who belong to the recreation center.
On Tuesday, Oct. 31, all Group X classes at the center will be Halloween-themed. Classes for that day include BODYPUMP, Barre yoga, WERQ Dance Fitness, Cycle & Core and Late Night Kickboxing & Core. Group X members can attend these classes for free, but all non-members must pay $5 for a day pass.
Monday, Oct. 23 is the first opportunity to join the Maintain, Don’t Gain challenge, an accountability program to help participants engage in healthy behaviors over the holiday season to maintain their weight. The program runs from Oct. 31 through Jan. 12.
According to event homepage, participants will “receive practical tips, recipes, physical activity suggestions, workouts and opportunities to participate in free instructor-led classes.” Various pre-holiday weigh-ins will occur throughout the week of Oct. 23. All participants who have maintained or lost weight at the post-holiday weigh-out will be entered in a raffle to receive prizes.
