Back to school is well underway for college students everywhere, and budgeting for textbooks, school supplies, and life essentials is a pivotal part of students’ lives. To ensure all Falcons have the means to properly feed themselves, the campus and city communities have created various resources for students to utilize as needed.
The Falcon Food Pantry is open Monday and Thursday from noon to 3:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. It is located in Central Hall 109 and may be used by any student once a week.
There is also the BGSU Community Garden located on the east side of the Fine Arts Building. Students and faculty are permitted and encouraged to pick produce from here any time.
St. Thomas More University Parish’s food pantry is open Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.. The pantry can be found at 425 Thurstin St. and may be used by students once a week.
St. Aloysius also has a food pantry students can access at 150 S. Enterprise St. This food pantry is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
The BG Christian Food Pantry provides a drive through dinner the second Friday of every month from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at First Christian Church located on 875 Haskins Rd. They also have a food pantry at 260 Railroad Ave., Suite 5, that is open Monday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon.
First United Methodist Church has a food pantry that is open the first Friday of every month from 10-11:30 a.m. They are located at 1526 E. Wooster St.
The Brown Bag Food Project of Northwest Ohio is another crucial resource for students. They are open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at 530 Sand Ridge Rd.
