BGSU women’s tennis (9-5) fell to the Buffalo Bulls (14-2) in a Sunday afternoon matchup at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.
The Falcons lost with a final score of 4-3 to the Bulls in the first Mid-American Conference game of the season for both teams.
“We have to be ready to fight from the start, you can’t go toe in the water and expect good results. I thought the doubles were a little sloppy today, but the singles got really good and turned it into a kind of dogfight,” head coach Mike Bonnell said.
The Bulls came out swinging with a complete team sweep of the doubles matches, to help them jump out to a commanding lead.
On the singles sides the Falcons took ground back as sophomore Qianyu Liu got the Orange and Brown into the win column.
Also getting in on the winning action was Leticia Fonseca and Lucia Gaio as they took narrow wins in single matches.
“That’s how tennis goes, you give it your all, you lay it out there. It’s painful in the process but tennis is the best teacher, and competition is the best teacher,” Bonnell said.
Next for the Falcons is a road trip to Oxford to take on the Miami RedHawks on Friday, March 21.
