International Education Week began Tuesday, kicking off a week of events to expose Americans to international students and culture.
The week was started jointly by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. Kobe Huymh, a student involved with the University’s events for international education week, said the week is primarily to increase awareness.
“It’s a week of events to promote awareness for international students,” Huymh said, “to promote cultural diversity.”
Throughout the week there will be movie viewings, discussions, and conferences on topics relevant to Latino, LGBT, black and other minorities.
Huymh said the week is to promote dialogue about international education.
Events nationwide began Tuesday Nov. 12 and will continue through the 18th.
