Matt Kutz, an assistant professor in the school of Human Movement, Sports, and Leisure Studies and his family will be featured on “House Hunters: International” tonight at 10:30 p.m. on HGTV.
Kutz and his family traveled to Rwanda in January so Kutz could be part of the Fulbright Scholar program. The program allows scholars to teach in foreign countries.
They did not plan to be on the television show, though.
“When I found out I was awarded the scholarship I … sent [House Hunters International] an email and just said ‘Hey, my family and I are going to Rwanda. We watch the show faithfully and have never seen Africa [featured] … we’ll be looking for a house,’” Kutz said.
About a month or two after contacting the show, the executives called Kutz and his family.
Kutz and his family looked at 20 houses before purchasing their house and filming the show.
“Being on the show was a blast,” Kutz said. “That was one of our highlights of our lives. It was really fun.”
