Students will not be able to use the Rec Center from 6 p.m. today until 8 a.m. tomorrow.
The closing is due to construction. An electrical line was hit, causing the emergency lights to be shut down, said Steve Kampf, director of recreation and wellness.
“Due to darkness we have to close the place down,” Kampf said.
He said the lights should be fixed by tomorrow, but if they aren’t, the Rec Center will be closed again.
Kampf said there shouldn’t be closings such as this in the future, but said he can never be sure if there will be an accident.
This is the first time this problem is happened, Kampf said, and most of the problems with construction has been fire alarms being triggered.
