The Falcons and The Flames battled at Cochrane Stadium in a crucial Missouri Valley Conference match on a chilly fall night in Bowling Green.

Bowling Green entered tonight’s match undefeated at home, with an impressive (5-0-1) record.

Eli Shope would get his fourth goal of the season to open up the scoring for the Falcons in the 22’, off a ball from junior midfielder Jake Bergin.

UIC would respond just six minutes later, as forward Bart Muns capitalized off a mistake from senior keeper’ Brendan Graves to make it 1-1 in the 28’.

The Orange and Brown would retake the lead later in the first half, after a crazy sequence in front of goal, junior midfielder Alberto Anaya headed home the ball to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead in the 35’.

Bowling Green would hold onto a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.

Muns looked to equalize again for the Flames in the 67’ with a left-footed shot that curled just wide of Grave’s far post.

BG would put the nail in the coffin in the 77’ with Masters getting his first goal of the season off of a beautiful assist from Anaya, who got his fifth assist of the season to make the final score 3-1 Falcons.

In a match that saw 46 total shots the Falcons outshooting the Flames 27-19 on the night.

Alberto Anaya was a standout for the Orange and Brown on the night, not only getting the game-winning goal as well as an assist, but completely controlled the game from the midfield and created multiple chances throughout the game.

With this win, the Falcons improve to (6-5-3) on the year and (3-2-0) in the MVC, and remain unbeaten at home this season, at (6-0-1) with one regular season home match left.
