With Bowling Green’s 2023 season coming to an end. Four players have received All-Missouri Valley Conference recognition.

Standout junior midfielder Alberto Anaya has been awarded the All-MVC First Team, recording a total of six goals and four assists this season, which tied for first on the team in both categories, four of those goals and assists came during MVC play.

Anaya also served as a captain during the season, and at one point scored in four consecutive games, the longest streak by a Falcon since 2005, despite missing three games this season due to injury.

Forward Trace Terry was also named to the All-MVC Second Team. The sophomore appeared in and started all 18 matches for Bowling Green this season, recording four goals and four assists. He also led the team in shots with 40 on the year and shots on goal with 18.

Terry scored his first two goals of the season in a 3-1 win against Bradley and scored twice against Evansville in a 4-2 victory.

Midfielder/Defender Mads Christensen and forward Bennett Painter were both awarded to the MVC’s All-Freshman Team.

Christensen was one of the four Falcons to start all 18 matches for BG. He played the third most minutes on the team and was on the field for every minute during conference play. He had the game-winning assist in Bowling Green’s 3-1 victory over Drake.

The freshman is naturally a midfielder, but due to injuries suffered in the backline for the Falcons this season, Christensen stepped in and played center back for the majority of the season for the Orange and Brown.

Painter appeared in 13 matches for the Falcons, six of which came in MVC matches. The forward recorded three goals and two assists on the year, which was fourth on the team.

The Cincinnati native scored his first two collegiate goals against Drake and recorded a goal plus an assist against nationally-ranked Missouri State.

The Falcons finished the season 7-8-3 overall and went 4-4-0 in their first season in the MVC, finishing in fourth place out of nine.
