On Saturday, Feb. 8, the BGSU women’s track and field team headed to Ann Arbor to compete in the Michigan Invitational.
The Falcons competed in 10 different competitions starting the day off early with the Weight Throw event, Long Jump, 60m Hurdles, 60m, Shot Put, 400m, Triple Jump, 800m, 200m, and finally they concluded then days events with the 4×400 Relay.
The Weight Throw competition saw four Falcons compete. In eighth place, senior Kami Baker with a toss of 16.62m. Next up in 10th is the redshirt sophomore Grace Bradtmuller with a toss score of 15.67. In the 11th-place spot, freshman Sierra Brinson had a toss of 15.44. Finally taking third place for the Falcons was the graduate student from Deshler, Ohio, Trista Fintal, with a score of 19.14m.
In the Long Jump Kiera Bonds, Sabrina Imes and Morgan Patterson Compete for BG.
60m Hurdles Falcon Competitors were, Christabelle Obi a junior ended the finals in 7th place with a time of 9.05 and a qualifying time of 8.98Q, and Patterson the junior from Fort Wayne, Indiana qualified in second place with a time of 8.61Q and then recorded a great time of 8.55 to land her in second place overall in the finals.
Up for the 60m the sophomore Bonds who unfortunately failed to qualify for finals with a time of 7.73Q, Kiersten Franklin a junior from Albany, Georgia ended third and qualified with a time of 7.56Q she then finished third overall with a time of 7.52, and Alexis Parchman, a Senior who qualified with a time of 7.63 and ended the finals race in 7th with a time of 7.67
Shot Put saw Falcons Lane Anderson, a junior, see herself get 9th with a score of 13.38, and Brinson got 12th with a score of 12.44. Fintel topped the group of Falcons with a score of 15.46, earning the 3rd place finish, and Sierra Podolan took 14th with scoring 10.06.
Next up was the 400m. Racing for Bowling Green was Reagan Campbell, a sophomore from Newark, Ohio, who finished highest for the Falcons in 11th with a time of 58.78. Tyyetta Herman, a Freshman, ended in 15th with a time of 1:01.27, Ashley Kisor, a Junior, ended 14th at 1:00.05, and lastly, Obi, ended 13th at 59.89.
Next, we had our only solo Falcon event, the 800m. Reagan Burkey was the only one to race for BG. The Senior from Youngstown, Ohio finished the race in 13th place with a time of 2:19.15.
After that, we saw Campbell, who finished in 16th with a time of 25.60, Franklin finished the highest for the Falcons, sitting at 6th place with a time of 24.37. Parchman finished in 10th with a time of 24.71, which was a new personal best for her. Bianca Staples, the junior who just finished .01 behind Campbell, putting her at 17th with a time of 25.61, compete in the 200m.
The last event of the Michigan Invitational pitted our Falcons DaMya Barker, Campbell, Franklin, and Kisor against the other competitors in a 4×400 Relay. Campbell had the best finish for the group at 58.78.
