On the morning of Nov. 10, Bowling Green State University Police Department (BGSUPD) responded to an anonymous call of a threat at the BGSU Jerome Library.
After investigating the building, BGSUPD has determined that there is no immediate threat.
During this time, everyone in the library was told to evacuate and no one was allowed to enter until BGSUPD determined that there was no immediate threat.
The threat was originally received by the Bowling Green Police Department (BGPD) from a phone call on their non-emergency line.
The unknown caller stated that there was an active shooter in the library. BGPD received no other calls about this incident. BGSUPD was sent immediately after this call was received.
BGSUPD talked to individuals on the scene, who confirmed that they did not see anything indicating a threat and did two full sweeps of the library before calling an all-clear.
BGSUPD and BGPD are working together to further investigate the call, which they believe to have been a swatting incident.
BGSUPD will have an increased presence through the days following the incident out of an abundance of caution.
