Students applying for scholarships or filing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must do so before the Feb. 27, 2026 deadline.
The FAFSA is completely free and students are required to complete it every year. To begin filling out the FAFSA, visit the FAFSA website and sign in as a returning user.
Fill out the required information and invite a contributor, usually a parent or guardian, who will receive an email to complete their section of the forms.
After consenting to provide 2024 federal tax information and a digital signature, the FAFSA is complete.
Make sure you and your contributors have a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID before filling out the FAFSA. If you do not have one, there is an application for it on the FAFSA website.
In addition to the FAFSA students must complete any scholarship applications before Feb. 27, 2026.
Scholarships for students already attending BGSU are not only based on merit, but some are also based on your field of study, community service or financial need.
There are more scholarships available for continuing students than for new students, so log in to MyBGSU and go to Scholarship Opportunities to apply for scholarships.
If you have any questions or need help navigating financial aid, you can call the financial aid office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
