Many Bowling Green State University (BGSU) students may wonder how much their professors and other faculty members make per year, but what they don’t know is that information is all online.
Since BGSU is a public state university, all of this information is available online for anyone with an interest to look through.
Listed in the BGSU Full-Time Faculty and Administrative Staff Salaries, 2025-26 document, there are four employment types. There is the administrative, faculty, faculty administration and faculty library.
Professors and teaching professors are included under the faculty employment type.
Among these employees who have base salaries, the administrative category includes 843 total employees, 754 are included for faculty, 64 are in faculty administration and 22 people are listed as faculty library employees.
Of these four employment group types, faculty administration has the highest average of the four types at $169,839 per year. The faculty category follows at $95,595, then the faculty library category at $85,530 and the administrative members earn $79,309 on average.
Altogether, the average between the four employment types was $107,523 for employees with non-hourly wages.
The type with the highest median was faculty administration at $147,797, and the lowest median was $68,066 for the administrative category. The average median is $84,795.
According to Univstats.com, the average salary for faculty members working at Ohio public national universities in 2025 was $97,752 based on nine-month contracts or equated data to the same time span.
The universities included in that average were the main campuses for the Ohio Mid-American Conference (MAC) universities, The Ohio State University, the University of Cincinnati, Wright State University and Cleveland State University.
At BGSU, the highest-paid employees come from the faculty administration and administrative employment type categories.
In the faculty administration category, BGSU President Rodney Rodgers earns the most with $553,248, and Todd Simon, head men’s basketball coach, was paid $461,250, the most of any person listed as an administrative employee. Both also have the top two highest overall salaries.
These lead to large gaps in both employment type categories, from the highest to the lowest paid. For faculty administration, there is a gap of $464,437, and a $458,703 gap for the administrative employment category.
When compared to the University of Toledo, BGSU employees, on average, earn more money per year. According to the same Univstats.com chart, the average salary at the University of Toledo was $99,896 in 2025.
However, when compared to Ohio State University, BGSU employees, on average, make significantly less. $137,852 was the average per faculty member at Ohio State University in 2025, according to Univstats.com.
