The Falcons also received the most votes to win the MAC Tournament.

Lauryn Hovey goes for a kill against Toledo

The Mid-American Conference preseason polls for volleyball have been released, and BGSU is a consistent name amongst the tops of the charts.

Based on votes from all 12 MAC teams, BGSU received 11 votes to win the MAC East, while also receiving the most votes to win the entire MAC tournament (6).

BGSU finished with 61 points in the poll, followed by Ohio (50), Buffalo (42), Kent State (28), Miami (OH) (18) and Akron (17).

In regards to preseason all-MAC teams, sophomore Lauryn Hovey and Jessica Andrews were named to the preseason all-MAC East preseason team.

Last season, Hovey was named the MAC Freshman of the Year, a member of the all-MAC First Team, and also the MAC Tournament Most Valuable Player.

Andrews was a member of the all-MAC Second Team a season ago.

The Falcons begin the regular season Friday, August 25, at 3 p.m. at the Northern Kentucky Tournament against East Tennessee State. Find the call of the game on WBGU 88.1 FM.
