The Allen W. And Carol M. Schmidthorst College of Business was announced as the presenting partner of Bowling Green Women’s athletics on Monday morning. Nationally, this is the first time that a college of business has taken the role of presenting partner in collaboration with the entirety of a university’s women’s sports programs.
This pact encompasses all 11 BG women’s sports and involves basketball, cross country, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track and field (indoor and outdoor), and volleyball.
“This partnership represents a defining moment for Bowling Green Athletics and the Schmidthorst College of Business,” said BGSU Vice President for Athletics Strategy Derek van der Merwe.
With this agreement, the desired outcome is to strengthen the relationship between the two flagship programs and support women student-athletes when they are competing and in the classroom.
“Together, we’re creating opportunities that extend beyond the field of play while showcasing the strength of collaboration across our university,” said van de Merwe.
One way that the two sides will be working together is through online video and graphic campaigns across BGSU athletics social posts that will showcase women student-athletes that are pursuing their business degrees. In return, branding of the Schmidthorst College of Business will be frequently visible on game days and across social platforms.
“As home to many student-athletes, we value the leadership, teamwork, and perseverance they develop in competition, qualities that define exceptional business leaders,” said Dean of the Schmidthorst College of Business Dr. Jennifer Percival.
The deal was negotiated through Falcon Sports Properties, a locally based team of Learfield, which serves as the exclusive multimedia rights holder for Bowling Green Athletics and regulates all sponsorship agreements on behalf of the Falcons.
