  • They Both Die at the End – General Review
Summer break is the perfect opportunity to get back into reading. Adam Silvera’s (2017) novel, They Both Die at the End, can serve as a stepping stone into the realm of reading. The pace is fast, action-packed, and develops loveable characters. Also, Silvera switches point of view each chapter where narration mainly focuses on the protagonists, […]
  • My Favorite Book – Freshwater
If there’s one book that I believe everyone should read once in their life, it’s my favorite book – Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. From my course, Queer Literature under Dr. Bill Albertini, I discovered Emezi’s Freshwater (2018). Once more, my course, Creative Writing Thesis Workshop under Professor Amorak Huey, was instructed to present our favorite […]

Bowling Green men’s basketball hit the road to travel to Dekalb, Illinois to face the Northern Illinois Huskies in the Falcons’ fourth Mid-American Conference game of the season. The Falcons picked up the win, defeating the Huskies 83-72.

Here’s how it went down.

The Falcons got off to a fast start in the first half with a Jason Spurgin layup and a Marcus Hill dunk, putting the Falcons up quick 4-0 start.

Despite some early shooting problems and rough turnovers for both teams, a three from EJay Greer put the Falcons up 13-6 six minutes into the first half.

However, despite the early defect, the Huskies would not give up.

The Huskies put together a scoring run capped off with Quaran McPherson hitting a three-point shot, tying the game for the first time 17-17. A minute later, a David Coit jump shot gave the Huskies their first lead of the night, up 19-18 against the Falcons.

The Falcons and Huskies continued their battle throughout most of the half, with each side unable to pull away for a large lead for many minutes.

Eventually, towards the end of the first half, the Falcons put a gap between them and their MAC opponents, their scoring run capped off with a Spurgin three pointer, putting them up by double digits in the final seconds of the half.

Heading into the second half, BGSU led the Huskies 43-32.

At the half, Hill scored 14 points for the Falcons, leading the team in scoring. Rashaun Agee recorded 11 points on 4-4 shooting, with four rebounds.

Agee carried his dominant performance into the second half, scoring the first Falcon points of the second half with a jump shot, then a major highlight play which saw Agee put a Huskies player on a poster, slamming the ball down above them.

The Falcons’ momentum kept building and building, taking a 19-point lead over the Huskies seven minutes into the second half.

Bowling Green maintained their double-digit lead for most of the half, the Huskies battled back, eventually getting the game withing nine points, but it was too little, too late.

Bowling Green defeated Northern Illinois 83-72 on route to their best start and record since 2015 (12-4).

Agee finished with 24 points on 8-9 shooting, also recording nine rebounds. Hill recorded 20 points of his own on 6-17 shooting.

Jason Spurgin recorded a double-double, with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Falcons shot 46.7% from the field and recorded 43 rebounds, 14 more than their MAC opponents.

BGSU improves to 12-4 on the year and 3-1 Vs the MAC. Bowling Green’s road trip continues as they travel to face Miami OH on January 16 at 7:00 p.m.
