While U.S. News & World Report gains a lot of notoriety for their “top” lists – everything from best places to retire to top doctors – other websites are getting in on the action. LinkedIn, the career networking social media site, released its list of the top 50 colleges in the U.S.
Only one Ohio school made the list.
No, not that one – it’s Miami University, which came in at #35.
The website listed Technology & Internet, Medical Practices and Business Consulting & Services as top industries for alumni and listed top locations for this alumni as Cincinnati, Chicago and Columbus. The most notable skills for Miami grads? Data Science, Scientific Computing and Advertising.
The Ivy League took five of the top 10 spots, including Princeton at the top of the list. In fact, all eight Ivy League schools cracked the Top 20.
While Ohio State didn’t make the list, fellow Big Ten member Northwestern came in at #11, Illinois landed at #24, USC (yes, they are in the Big Ten now) showed up at #24, Purdue rated #33 followed by Michigan at #34, Penn State at #40 and Wisconsin at #50.
The list is similar to the U.S. News & World report version. In fact, Princeton topped that one, too, but Ohio State cracked that top 50 list, coming in at #41 in the nation while Miami landed at #136. BGSU was #273 on that list.
