BGSU has announced the Falcon Marching Band will relocate from sections 20L and 20U in the northeast corner of Doyt L. Perry Stadium to sections 19L and 19U in the northwest corner of the stadium for football games during the 2026 season, caddy corner from the student section.
The band’s sound will now be directed toward the east side of the stadium—the location of Bowling Green’s home sideline—aimed at allowing fans to better hear the band and participate in fan-directed cheers. The band will continue to face the east sideline during halftime performances.
“The new location of the Falcon Marching Band will provide a better fan experience for those on the east side (home side) and will allow us to more easily interact with the BG fans on the west side,” Jon Waters, Director of the Falcon Marching Band and Athletic Bands, said in a BGSU Athletics press release. “The visiting teams will hear ‘Ay Ziggy Zoomba’ loud and clear, too.”
The band is one of the largest collegiate marching bands in the country, reaching 475 members this year.
“The Falcon Marching Band is a critical part of our game-day experience,” Derek van der Merwe, Vice President for Athletics Strategy and Director of Athletics, said. “As the band has grown, we need to find innovative ways to integrate them into the energy and fan experience of the game. Jon Waters is a leader in creativity and innovation, and we are fortunate to have him partner with us to create new ways to engage our fans and students.”
Current season ticket holders in the affected sections can renew their current seats or relocate to other available seating areas, with additional information being shared directly with the ticket holders by the BGSU Athletic Ticket Office, who fans can contact at [email protected].
