Hovey, Marcon collect MAC East Division Player of the Week honors

Another week, another collection of hardware for BGSU Volleyball and their players.

Earlier Monday afternoon, the Mid-American Conference announced their weekly award winners, and BGSU’s Lauryn Hovey and Benedetta Marcon were among the names for the awards.

For Hovey, she took home the MAC East Division Offensive Player of the Week award. In two matches against Northern Illinois, the 2022 MAC Freshman of the Year racked up 38 kills, while only committing 11 errors in 77 total attacks.

This is Hovey’s third career weekly award and her first of the season.

For Marcon, the freshman from Spinea, Italy, this is her first award of her young career.

Replacing Alex Laboy as libero this week against the Huskies, Marcon earned 24 digs on Thursday in BG’s win, while adding 15 in Friday’s loss.

This is the fourth time this season a Falcon has been recognized for a MAC East award.
