Ohio Governor Mike DeWine vetoed a bill that would’ve banned gender-affirming healthcare for minors, as well as barring transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports.
Gov. DeWine vetoed House Bill 68 Friday, and alongside the veto announced plans to make a move to ban transgender surgeries for individuals under the age of 18. DeWine says this could allow for more support from the republican legislature, who has the ability to override the veto, if passed again through the state house and senate.
“Ultimately, I believe this is about protecting human life. Many parents have told me that their child would be dead today if they had not received the treatment they received from an Ohio children’s hospital,” Gov. Dewine remarked. “I have also been told, by those who are now grown adults, that but for this care, they would have taken their life when they were teenagers.”

Good Morning,
I am a Bowling Green Women’s Lacrosse and Field Hockey Alumni. I am an avid supporter of Women’s Sports. We must provide a bill that only addresses transgender women in women’s sports. If a man choose to transgender to a woman that is a personal decision. A separate category will need to be an established for their participation.
