Bowling Green’s annual PorchFest event brought hundreds of community members out to enjoy the live musical performances. This is the sixth year PorchFest has shut down Eberly Avenue and the surrounding block. Marching band Samba Bateria set the stage at 1:30 p.m. and the CBR Trio finished things off at 6:30 p.m.
This year’s lineup featured 20 bands, some annual PorchFest performers and some new to the event. Samba Bateria, made up of BGSU percussion students, continued the annual tradition kicking off the event with a march through the streets. The Illegal Smiles & Mike Williams on Sax would follow as the first porch performers.
New to PorchFest, Northwest Ohio classic rock cover band Seventy80 started their set at 2 p.m. Their set list featured classic rock songs from the 70’s and 80’s. The band is made up of four members, Matt Erman with vocals and guitar, Andy Musgrave on bass, Pat Riley beating the drums and McKensie Le with the vocals. The band featured songs from Journey, Queen, Pat Benatar and more.
Each band had an hour set, giving community members a chance to sit and enjoy each band before moving onto the next. The event provided food stands for people as well featuring Jack & Do’s Pizza, Now Serving BG, Cousins Crew Lemonade Stand and Arlyn’s Good Beer.
Members of BG should expect the return of PorchFest in 2027, though the dates have not yet been announced.
