On Oct. 24, Bowling Green State University (BGSU) issued a press release reaffirming Kokosing, Inc.’s support of BGSU’s architecture, environmental design and construction management programs. Kokosing, Inc., an Ohio-based family-owned construction company, sponsored branded orange hard hats for all first-year students in the School of the Built Environment.
Kokosing’s sponsorship covers an out-of-pocket expense for students, but the company provides much more.
In 2021, Kokosing financed the renovation of Kokosing Hall, the home of the School of the Built Environment on BGSU’s campus.
Yet, their influence transcends gifts and donations. Kokosing, Inc. also extends valuable experiential learning opportunities to BGSU students.
Architecture and construction management students are required, for graduation from the School of the Built Environment, to complete a co-op. Kokosing has hosted student co-ops for nearly 30 years.
This partnership is “an example of how higher education and industry working together closely can benefit everyone,” said the School of the Built Environment Director Dr. Arsenio Rodrigues in a press release.
Some of this connection can be attributed to legacy. Kokosing President and co-CEO Brett Burgett is a BGSU graduate, continuing BGSU’s mission of serving the public good.
