Bowling Green State University students will have Monday morning classes canceled due to Sunday’s snow, according to an email university officials sent Sunday night.
According to the email, in-person classes scheduled to begin before 12:30 p.m. are canceled, while classes starting at or after 12:30 p.m. will continue as scheduled.
“Canceling morning in-person classes allows Campus Operations the time and space to effectively clear campus,” the email said. “We want to express our gratitude to them, as well as all of our staff who will ensure student services continue.”
University operations other than classes — including dining halls, residence halls, administrative offices, the Student Recreation Center and other nonacademic buildings — will remain open, according to the university.
As of 8 p.m. Sunday, Wood County remained under a Level 2 snow emergency, meaning “only those who feel it necessary to drive should be out on the roads.”
BGSU Dining said most dining halls and markets will open later or remain closed Monday due to class cancellations.
The Social House, Carillon Place, Kreischer Sundial, Falcon’s Nest, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Starbucks, the Market at the Nest and the Market at Offenhauer will open at a delayed time of 9 a.m.
Cantina 1910, Crimson Cup at Olscamp, Forhan’s Cafe, Sundial Cafe, Hungry Howie’s at the Nest and the Market at the Jerome Library will be closed Monday.
The Market at Kreischer, which opens at 11 a.m., and the Market at Carillon Place, which operates 24 hours a day, will operate on their normal schedules.
In an email, BGSU Dining said the changes were made to “consolidate staffing to prioritize the safety of our team while continuing to offer dining options across campus.”
